U.S. Bank Visa Platinum perks

Last reviewed: September 2026. The U.S. Bank Visa® Platinum Card is no longer accepting new applications. The information below is intended to help existing cardholders understand documented features of the legacy product.

The U.S. Bank Visa Platinum was primarily an introductory-APR credit card rather than a rewards or premium travel card.

Its most relevant features historically included introductory financing and a $0 annual fee, while U.S. Bank continues to document Cellular Telephone Protection for eligible existing cardholders.

No longer accepting new applications

U.S. Bank currently lists the Visa Platinum Card in its section for personal credit cards that are no longer accepting applications.

For this reason, older promotional APRs should be identified as historical acquisition offers rather than presented as terms available to a new applicant today.

Historical introductory APR

Before the card stopped accepting applications, the final widely published offer provided 0% introductory APR for 18 billing cycles on eligible purchases and balance transfers.

Existing cardholders should consult their monthly statement rather than relying on that historical figure because any introductory period associated with an individual account may have expired or have different dates.

Historical $0 annual fee

The final public Visa Platinum offer was advertised with a $0 annual fee.

Existing cardholders should still review their current Cardmember Agreement for the fees applicable to their individual account.

Cellular Telephone Protection

U.S. Bank currently documents Cellular Telephone Protection for eligible Visa Platinum cardholders.

The current benefit provides up to $600 per covered occurrence for qualifying damage, theft, or involuntary and accidental parting of an eligible cellular telephone.

A $25 deductible applies per approved claim. The maximum current benefit is $1,200, representing up to two paid claims during a 12-month period.

Coverage can extend to the primary cellular telephone line and qualifying secondary or supplemental lines when the applicable monthly bill is paid with the eligible U.S. Bank Visa Platinum Card according to the benefit requirements.

The benefit does not cover every situation. For example, U.S. Bank states that phones that are simply lost or experience electronic failure are not covered.

The card does not have a traditional rewards program

The Visa Platinum should not be described as providing cash back, rewards points, airline miles or a rewards travel portal.

Those features belong to other U.S. Bank card products. The Visa Platinum's historical focus was introductory financing.

Do not assume premium travel benefits

Airport lounge access, broad travel rewards, complimentary hotel status and no-foreign-transaction-fee benefits should not be attributed to the U.S. Bank Visa Platinum without specific documentation for the individual account.

U.S. Bank currently states generally that its credit cards may charge foreign transaction fees of up to 3%, depending on the applicable agreement.

Account management

Existing cardholders can use U.S. Bank online banking and mobile account tools to review transactions, statements, balances and payment information.

Cardholders can also use their monthly statement to verify current APR information, promotional expiration dates and fees rather than relying on old acquisition pages.

What U.S. Bank offers new applicants today

The Visa Platinum is no longer part of U.S. Bank's current new-card lineup.

As of September 2026, U.S. Bank's current Shield Visa Card is advertised with 0% introductory APR for 21 billing cycles on purchases and qualifying balance transfers made within the applicable period.

Shield is a separate product with its own rewards, fees and benefits and should not be described as though those features apply to Visa Platinum accounts.

Frequently asked questions

Final considerations

The U.S. Bank Visa Platinum is now best treated as a legacy introductory-financing product for existing cardholders.

Its documented cell phone protection can remain useful, but the card should not be presented as providing a broad rewards program, airport lounge access, premium travel benefits or a currently available introductory APR offer.

For current information about benefits for legacy cards, review the official U.S. Bank Card Benefits page.
