The Platinum Card: access exclusive perks

Last reviewed: September 2026. American Express may change rewards, annual fees, statement credits, lounge policies and other Card benefits. Always review the current Benefit Terms before applying or relying on a specific feature.

The Platinum Card® from American Express is a premium travel and lifestyle Card that combines Membership Rewards® points with airport lounge access, hotel benefits, statement credits and travel protections.

The Card currently has a $895 annual fee, making it especially important to evaluate benefits according to actual expected use rather than simply adding together their maximum advertised values.

How the Platinum Card earns Membership Rewards points

The Platinum Card currently earns 5X Membership Rewards points on eligible flights booked directly with airlines or through American Express Travel®, on up to $500,000 in qualifying flight purchases per calendar year.

The Card also currently earns 5X points on eligible prepaid hotel bookings through American Express Travel.

Other eligible purchases generally earn according to the standard Membership Rewards earning structure applicable to the Card.

The Platinum Card should not be represented as offering elevated points on dining purchases as a standard earning category. Consumers whose spending is concentrated primarily on dining or groceries may want to compare the Platinum Card's structure with other American Express products.

American Express Global Lounge Collection

Eligible Platinum Card Members currently have access to the American Express Global Lounge Collection®, which includes more than 1,550 airport lounges across more than 500 airports worldwide.

The network currently includes participating Centurion® Lounges, Priority Pass™ lounges after enrollment, Plaza Premium Lounges, Escape Lounges and additional participating partner lounges.

Lounge access is subject to location-specific rules, capacity restrictions, guest policies and enrollment requirements.

Delta Sky Club access has specific limits

Eligible U.S. Platinum Card Members currently receive 10 Delta Sky Club® visits each year when traveling on an eligible same-day Delta flight and meeting the applicable access requirements.

Card Members who reach $75,000 in eligible purchases on the Card Account during a calendar year can currently unlock unlimited Delta Sky Club visits according to the applicable benefit terms.

Delta Sky Club access should therefore not be described simply as unlimited complimentary lounge access for every Platinum Card Member.

For a broader look at the Card's travel features, see Amex Platinum travel benefits.

$600 Hotel Credit

The Platinum Card currently provides up to $600 per calendar year in statement credits on eligible prepaid Fine Hotels + Resorts® and The Hotel Collection bookings made through American Express Travel.

The benefit is currently divided into up to $300 in statement credits during each half of the calendar year.

The Hotel Collection requires a qualifying stay of at least two consecutive nights. Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection bookings can also include property-specific benefits subject to program terms.

Fine Hotels + Resorts benefits

Eligible Fine Hotels + Resorts bookings currently include benefits such as daily breakfast for two, guaranteed 4 p.m. late checkout, a property credit generally valued at $100 and room upgrades when available.

Early check-in may also be available, and individual benefits can vary by property.

Hotel elite status

Eligible Platinum Card Members can currently enroll in complimentary Hilton Honors™ Gold Status and Marriott Bonvoy® Gold Elite Status.

The Card also currently provides eligible Members with complimentary Leaders Club Sterling Status from The Leading Hotels of the World®, subject to enrollment and program terms.

Individual hotel benefits such as upgrades, bonus points or late checkout are determined by the applicable hotel loyalty program and may be subject to availability.

$200 Airline Fee Credit

Eligible Platinum Card Members can currently receive up to $200 in statement credits each calendar year for qualifying incidental fees charged by one selected participating airline.

Examples may include certain baggage fees and eligible in-flight incidental charges. The benefit is not a general $200 credit toward any airfare purchase.

Uber and Uber One benefits

Eligible U.S. Platinum Card Members currently receive up to $200 in Uber Cash annually after adding the Card to an eligible Uber account.

The current structure provides $15 in Uber Cash each month plus an additional $20 in December for eligible U.S. Uber rides and orders when the applicable payment requirements are met.

The Card also currently provides up to $120 per calendar year in statement credits toward an eligible auto-renewing Uber One membership paid with the Platinum Card.

$400 Resy Credit

After enrollment, the Platinum Card currently provides up to $400 per calendar year in statement credits for qualifying Resy purchases, including dining at participating U.S. Resy restaurants.

The benefit is currently divided into up to $100 in statement credits each quarter.

Eligible Card Members can also have access to Global Dining Access by Resy and selected Platinum Nights by Resy reservations, subject to availability.

Additional statement credits

The Platinum Card currently includes several other credits that may provide value when a Card Member already uses the participating products or services.

  • Up to $300 per calendar year in eligible Digital Entertainment statement credits after enrollment;
  • Up to $219 per calendar year toward an eligible CLEAR+ membership;
  • Up to $300 per calendar year in eligible U.S. lululemon statement credits after enrollment;
  • Up to $200 per calendar year toward an eligible OURA Ring purchase after enrollment;
  • Up to $155 annually toward an eligible monthly Walmart+ membership under current terms.

These benefits have individual enrollment, merchant, timing and eligibility requirements. Their maximum advertised values should not be treated as automatic savings for every Card Member.

Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit

The Platinum Card currently provides an eligible statement credit toward either a Global Entry application fee or an eligible TSA PreCheck® application fee when charged to the Card according to the benefit terms.

Current maximum credits are $120 for Global Entry and up to $85 for an eligible TSA PreCheck application. Approval is determined by the relevant government agency, not American Express.

Travel protections

The Platinum Card includes several specific travel insurance and assistance benefits when applicable requirements are met.

Current examples include Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance, Trip Delay Insurance, Baggage Insurance and Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance.

These protections have separate coverage limits, eligibility requirements and exclusions. They should not be described as unlimited or comprehensive travel insurance.

No foreign transaction fees

The U.S. consumer Platinum Card currently does not charge foreign transaction fees.

Evaluating the $895 annual fee

Whether the Platinum Card's current $895 annual fee aligns with a consumer's needs depends on actual use of the rewards program, airport lounges, statement credits, hotel benefits and other Card features.

A benefit advertised at a particular maximum annual value does not necessarily provide that amount of value to every Card Member.

Consumers can evaluate the Card according to benefits they expect to use rather than assuming that the full advertised value of every credit will automatically exceed the annual fee.
