Citi Rewards+: small spends, big rewards

Last reviewed: September 2026. The Citi Rewards+® Card is no longer offered as a current Citi credit card product. Citi replaced it with the Citi Strata℠ Card. Rewards, fees, APRs and card benefits may change, so current applicants should review the latest Citi Strata terms directly with Citi.

The Citi Rewards+ Card was known for two unusual rewards features: rounding points earned on each purchase up to the nearest 10 points and returning 10% of the first 100,000 ThankYou® Points redeemed each year.

Those features should now be treated as historical. Citi transitioned the Rewards+ product into the Citi Strata Card, and the transitional Round Up and 10% Points Back benefits ended in July 2026.

What replaced Citi Rewards+?

The current Citi Strata Card is a $0-annual-fee ThankYou Points credit card with a substantially different rewards structure from the former Rewards+ Card.

Current Citi Strata earning rates include:

  • 5X points: eligible hotels, car rentals and attractions booked through Citi Travel;
  • 3X points: eligible supermarket purchases;
  • 3X points: eligible gas and EV charging purchases;
  • 3X points: eligible select transit purchases;
  • 3X points: one eligible Self-Select Category chosen by the cardholder;
  • 2X points: eligible restaurant purchases;
  • 1X point: other eligible purchases.

Because the rewards structure changed, older Citi Rewards+ articles describing 2X supermarket and gas rewards on the first $6,000 per year no longer describe the current product.

The old Round Up feature has ended

With the original Citi Rewards+ Card, points earned from a purchase were rounded up to the nearest 10 points. For example, a small purchase that normally earned only a few points could be rounded to 10.

This was one of the product's defining characteristics, but it is not part of the current Citi Strata rewards structure.

Consumers researching a new card should therefore not expect purchases made with Citi Strata to automatically round up to the nearest 10 points.

The old 10% Points Back benefit has also ended

The former Rewards+ Card also offered 10% Points Back on the first 100,000 ThankYou Points redeemed during a calendar year.

That feature was retained temporarily for certain accounts during the transition to Citi Strata but is no longer a current Citi Strata benefit as of September 2026.

The new Self-Select Category

One feature of the current Citi Strata Card is the ability to earn 3X points in one eligible Self-Select Category.

Current choices include:

  • Fitness Clubs;
  • Select Streaming Services;
  • Live Entertainment;
  • Cosmetic Stores, Barber Shops and Hair Salons;
  • Pet Supply Stores.

Citi currently uses Select Streaming Services as the default category when an account is opened. The primary cardmember can select another eligible category and can change the selection once per calendar quarter.

Merchant classification determines whether a transaction qualifies for an accelerated category.

Redeeming ThankYou Points

Citi ThankYou Points can currently be redeemed through several methods, depending on the Card and the available rewards program options.

  • Eligible travel through Citi Travel;
  • Cash back;
  • Gift cards;
  • Shopping with points at participating merchants;
  • Transfers to participating airline, hotel and other loyalty programs.

Redemption values and transfer ratios can vary. Cardholders should compare the number of points required before assuming that one redemption method provides greater value than another.

For more information about using the current program, see Maximizing Citi rewards points.

No annual fee

The current Citi Strata Card has a $0 annual fee.

The absence of an annual fee does not eliminate other potential costs, including interest and transaction fees. Consumers should review the current Citi pricing disclosure before applying.

Current introductory APR offer

As of September 2026, Citi is advertising a 0% introductory APR for 15 months from account opening on purchases and balance transfers for eligible new Citi Strata cardmembers.

Balance transfer fees and other conditions apply. Introductory APR offers can change, so the pricing disclosure available when applying should be treated as authoritative.

Final considerations

Citi Rewards+ was notable for rewarding small transactions through Round Up and providing Points Back on redemptions, but those features should now be discussed as part of the former product.

The current Citi Strata Card uses a different approach, with accelerated earning categories across supermarkets, gas and EV charging, select transit, restaurants, Citi Travel and a customizable Self-Select Category.
