Venture Rewards travel perks

Last reviewed: September 2026. Credit card rewards, APRs, fees, promotional offers and travel benefits may change. Always review Capital One's current terms and applicable Cardholder Benefits Guide before relying on a specific benefit.

The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card is a travel rewards card that combines a flat miles-earning structure with additional rewards for certain bookings made through Capital One Travel.

According to Capital One's current terms, cardholders earn unlimited 2X miles per dollar on everyday purchases and 5X miles on eligible hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel.

The card also includes several travel-related features, including no foreign transaction fees, a credit toward Global Entry or TSA PreCheck®, travel protections and access to selected travel programs. Understanding exactly which benefits are included can help consumers compare Venture Rewards with other travel cards.

Capital One Venture Rewards at a glance

The Venture Rewards Card currently has the following core features:

  • Annual fee: $95;
  • Everyday purchases: unlimited 2X miles per dollar;
  • Capital One Travel: 5X miles on eligible hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel;
  • Foreign transaction fee: none under current Capital One terms;
  • Global Entry or TSA PreCheck®: up to a $120 statement credit on an eligible application fee;
  • Rewards expiration: miles do not expire for the life of the account, subject to program terms;
  • Mileage cap: no standard limit on the number of miles that can be earned from eligible purchases.

Purchase APRs and other account terms vary and should be reviewed directly through Capital One before applying.

Earn 2X miles on everyday purchases

One of the main characteristics of Venture Rewards is its straightforward earning structure. Eligible purchases currently earn unlimited 2 miles per dollar without requiring cardholders to track standard bonus categories.

This can make the card easier to manage than rewards programs that require quarterly category activation or offer different rates across numerous types of everyday spending.

However, consumers should not assume that 2X miles automatically provides more value than another credit card's rewards. The practical value depends on spending habits, redemption choices, annual fees and the alternatives being compared.

Earn 5X miles through Capital One Travel

Venture cardholders currently earn 5X miles per dollar on eligible hotel, vacation rental and rental car bookings made through Capital One Travel.

The higher 5X rate does not automatically apply to every travel purchase. For example, a hotel booked directly with a hotel brand generally does not receive the Capital One Travel 5X rate simply because it is a travel expense.

Before booking through a travel portal solely for additional miles, consumers may also want to compare the total price, cancellation policy, loyalty program eligibility and booking conditions with those available when booking directly with the travel provider.

No foreign transaction fees

Capital One currently does not charge foreign transaction fees on Venture Rewards purchases made outside the United States.

This can be useful for international purchases, but it does not mean every transaction abroad will be free of other potential costs. Merchant currency conversion practices, exchange rates and other travel expenses can still affect the final amount paid.

Global Entry or TSA PreCheck® credit

Eligible Venture cardholders currently receive up to a $120 statement credit when the card is used to pay an application fee for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck®.

Capital One currently states that this benefit is available once every four years for eligible accounts and applies to the first qualifying application fee charged to the card.

Enrollment, approval and continued participation in Global Entry or TSA PreCheck are determined by the applicable government program rather than by Capital One.

Transfer Venture miles to travel loyalty programs

Eligible Capital One miles can currently be transferred to more than 15 airline and hotel loyalty programs.

Transfer partners include a selection of airline and hotel programs, and transfer ratios vary by partner. Many currently use a 1:1 ratio, while others use different conversion rates.

Transfers should be evaluated carefully because loyalty program availability, award pricing and transfer ratios can change. Transfers to travel partners may also be irreversible once completed.

Cardholders should compare the value of transferring miles with other available redemption methods before moving a large rewards balance to an external loyalty program.

Flexible ways to redeem Venture miles

Capital One currently provides several ways to redeem Venture miles.

  • Book eligible travel through Capital One Travel;
  • Use miles toward qualifying recent travel purchases;
  • Transfer miles to participating airline and hotel loyalty programs;
  • Redeem miles for eligible gift cards;
  • Redeem for cash back;
  • Use rewards for certain purchases or experiences when available.

Different redemption options may provide different values per mile. Consumers should therefore compare the available redemption methods rather than assuming all uses of Venture miles have the same value.

Hertz Five Star status

Eligible Venture cardholders currently receive complimentary Hertz® Five Star status, subject to enrollment and the applicable Hertz program terms.

Benefits may include features such as access to a wider selection of rental vehicles and the ability to bypass certain rental counter procedures at participating locations.

Availability and individual rental benefits depend on Hertz program terms, participating locations and reservation conditions.

Lifestyle Collection hotel benefits

Venture cardholders currently have access to Capital One's Lifestyle Collection of hotels, resorts and professionally managed vacation rentals.

Eligible Lifestyle Collection stays currently include a $50 experience credit. Additional benefits may include room upgrades, early check-in and late checkout when available.

These benefits apply to qualifying Lifestyle Collection reservations rather than to all hotel bookings made with the Venture Card.

Travel accident insurance

Capital One currently lists travel accident insurance among the Venture Card's travel benefits.

Eligible cardholders can receive coverage for certain covered losses when qualifying passenger transportation fares are purchased with the card.

This benefit should not be interpreted as comprehensive travel or medical insurance. Covered events, eligibility requirements, benefit limits and exclusions are defined in the applicable Cardholder Benefits Guide.

Rental car collision coverage

Eligible Venture cardholders may also receive rental vehicle collision or theft coverage when applicable benefit requirements are met.

Capital One currently describes rental car coverage for eligible Venture cards as secondary coverage. This generally means other applicable personal automobile insurance is considered before the card benefit.

This coverage is not equivalent to comprehensive automobile insurance. It does not necessarily cover bodily injury, damage to other vehicles or property, mechanical problems or personal belongings inside the rental vehicle.

24-hour travel assistance

Venture Rewards also includes access to travel assistance services in qualifying situations.

For example, Capital One currently notes that assistance may be available when a credit card is lost or stolen, including arrangements for an emergency replacement card or eligible emergency cash advance.

Travel assistance services should not be interpreted as meaning that third-party medical, legal, transportation or other expenses are automatically covered.

Capital One Entertainment

Capital One cardholders may also have access to Capital One Entertainment, which provides opportunities to purchase tickets, access selected events and explore cardholder-specific experiences in areas such as music, sports, dining and theater.

Availability, ticket prices, event inventory and eligibility can vary. Access to the platform does not mean that tickets or experiences are complimentary unless a specific offer explicitly states otherwise.

What Venture Rewards does not automatically include

It is important to distinguish the Venture Rewards Card from premium travel cards — including other cards in Capital One's Venture product family.

Complimentary access to more than 1,000 airport lounges is not currently listed as a standard Venture Rewards benefit. Capital One currently markets its broader complimentary lounge access benefit with the Venture X Rewards Card.

Likewise, free checked bags and priority airline boarding should not be assumed to be standard Venture Rewards benefits. Those features are commonly associated with certain airline-specific credit cards and airline status programs rather than with the standard Venture Rewards product.

Consumers should verify individual benefits directly through Capital One instead of assuming that a feature available on another Venture-family or travel credit card also applies to Venture Rewards.

Consider the annual fee

The Venture Rewards Card currently has a $95 annual fee.

Whether the card provides sufficient value to offset that fee depends on factors such as annual spending, use of the travel benefits, miles earned and the value received when miles are redeemed.

Consumers should compare the Venture Rewards Card with both no-annual-fee travel cards and premium cards rather than evaluating it solely based on its miles-earning rate.

Avoid spending more solely to earn miles

Travel rewards can lose much of their financial value when purchases lead to credit card interest charges.

Consumers should consider the card's applicable APR and their ability to repay purchases rather than increasing spending solely to accumulate additional miles.

A rewards strategy generally has more practical value when miles are earned from purchases that would have been made regardless of the incentive.

Final considerations

The Capital One Venture Rewards Card combines a straightforward 2X miles rate on eligible everyday purchases with higher rewards for certain Capital One Travel bookings and several travel-focused benefits.

Features such as no foreign transaction fees, the Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit, travel partner transfers, Hertz Five Star status and access to Lifestyle Collection benefits may add value for some travelers.

At the same time, the card should not be represented as providing benefits that belong to different products or programs. Complimentary broad airport lounge access, free checked bags and priority airline boarding are not standard Venture Rewards benefits under Capital One's current published information.

Consumers should compare the $95 annual fee, applicable APR, reward redemption options and expected use of the card's benefits with other available travel cards.
